The samples of degree of affinity were analyzed according to each student, organism, or group of natural and artificial classification.  In addition, I asked students to classify raw materials used in preparing food on the basis of whether or not the materials are obtained from organisms.  Half the students did not classify vegetables and grains as materials obtained from organisms.
