A questionnaire was administered to 55 individuals who underwent this exercise and 96 other who received opportunities to practice sports. The questionnaire comprised a communication apprehension measure for negative aspects, and a communication skills measure for positive aspects. The analysis revealed the following: (1) overall self-assessment of students' communication skills was lower in the communication skills group than the sports practice group at the first exercise session, and (2) the communication skills group had a greater number of positive scores on all aspects, post-practice than pre-practice; however this improvement tendency was not observed in the sports practice group.
