 note = {The SNA incorporates a number of features. One of these is that the institutional sector for private non-profit institutions serving households, which is smaller in weight than the other institutional sectors, is treated as a separate sector. This implies that it is possible to make international comparisons of the private non-profit institutions serving households, using the SNA. This paper presents some theoretical and statistical analyses of the private non-profit institutions serving households in terms of SNA. The ratio of production of the private non-profit institutions serving households to the GDP is 3.3 percent for Japan, a substantially lower level the 5.7 percent of the United States. Germany (former West Germany), at 3.5 percent, is approximately the same level as Japan.},
