In its capital city Kathmandu, there are many representative offices of bilateral and multinational development assistance organizations. The author had opportunities to make interviews with some program officers and ambassadors at those organizations and embassies during his stay, on the priority issues and agenda of international development assistance to this country.This paper overviews at first the status quo of the socio-economic development in Nepal. Secondly, the paper examines the characteristics of major bilateral donors including Japan, the United States, United Kingdom, India, and European countries. Among multinational organizations, Word Bank has attracted much attention, because with its Country Assistance Strategy it seems to have the leading role in the donors society, including coordination meetings.
